An episode in the life of an artist

Listening To Berlioz's Symphonie Fantastique this am, here's a snippet from the first movement above and a brief synopsis via Wikipedia below:
The symphony is a piece of program music which tells the story of "an artist gifted with a lively imagination" who has "poisoned himself with opium" in the "depths of despair" because of "hopeless love."
