He always asked Tom in the mailroom if he saw him in the back of the Times yet, and yesterday we did!
We had Merkin as a drawing Professor while at RISD, the class was full of unexpected events and interesting stories from his long and celebrity filled career. His fashion sense was still obviously sharp, even jokingly asking for Tom's aqua and pink Patagonia striped shirt (from Paris! which made it even more desirable) in return for an A (the next week he had a similar shirt he'd gone out and bought himself! That fashion fiend!) Richard you will be missed!
